Hey there! 🙂
A long break means time to celebrate! And what better way to do that than with Chocolate! 🙂
Since all the boys at home prefer chocolate to any other flavor, I keep looking for different chocolate cake recipes. I found this amazing recipe at bakerella.com – try it and see for yourself! She calls it the best chocolate cake ever and I totally agree! Totally yumm! 🙂
This is the cake in its entirety! 🙂 Chocolate goodness!
You will need –
2 cups – flour
1/4 tsp – salt
1 tsp – baking soda
Sift and keep aside.
1 cup – butter
Melt the butter on medium heat and while it melts, add
4 tbsp – cocoa powder
1 cup – boiling water
Stir well till it bubbles up, Turn off the heat and leave aside to cool.
In another bowl, whisk
2 – eggs
2 cups – sugar
1 tsp – vanilla
1/2 cup – buttermilk (I did not make it very runny but just whisked the yoghurt with a spoon)
I did this one at a time so that everything mixes well. (I also changed this order a bit as the original recipe calls for a different order 🙂 )
Add the chocolate mix to this and beat just till everything combines together.
Add the flour mix and fold in.
Pour into greased baking dish and bake at 350 F (180 C) for 20-25 minutes.
I also tweaked the glaze for this one! The original recipe called for lots more but I toned the quantities down and made just enough to cover the cake and no leftovers! 🙂 Hard to give you measurements on that so I will just list the ingredients down for you 🙂
Butter – melt and while on the heat add some cocoa powder. Mix well and add some milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and icing sugar till the consistency is not too thick but combines well enough. Leave to cool and this will thicken up a bit.
Just spread over the cake when cooled down a bit and leave to set! 🙂
Yes! It tastes as yummy as it looks! So easy to make and turns out fab! 🙂
Doesn’t that glaze look so amazing?? 🙂
Enjoy and let me know how it turned out for you! And do drop by Bakerella and leave some love for her too! 🙂
