Doughnut time!

These yeast doughnuts came out very nice and makes for a great sight on the dining table when the kids get back home! 🙂 Got the recipe from a website while randomly surfing and comparing recipes.

3/4 cup – scalded milk

1/3 cup – sugar

1/4 tsp – salt

Mix the three together and leave to get tepid in temperature.

2 tsp – instant yeast

1/4 cup – warm water

Soak the yeast with a sprinkle of sugar in the warm water and leave to prove.

4 cups – flour

1/3 cup – melted butter

2 – eggs, beaten

Mix 2 cups of flour to the milk mixture. Add the yeast, butter and eggs. Add the remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time to make a smooth dough. Leave to rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour till doubled in volume.

Cut out shapes and place on a greased baking tray with room for expansion between the doughnuts. Leave to rise for 30 min.

Deep fry in hot oil and add glaze of icing sugar + cold water + vanilla essence or melted chocolate and/or icing sugar
