White and Dark Chocolate Brownies
This is a super simple recipe that I stumbled on when on my night surfs!! This is from the blog by Deb Perelman through the blog Bon Appetit – great stuff and pictures!! Deb has done an amazing heart shaped brownies but I simply did not have the time to do that! Too much waiting! 🙂 So I combines the two and out came a marble cake! Tastes as good and much quicker too!
3 ounces (85 gms) – white or dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces
1/2 cup – butter
3/4 cup – castor sugar
2 – eggs
1 tsp – vanilla essence
1/4 tsp – salt
2/3 cup – flour
Melt the chocolate and butter over a double boiler. I melted the white and dark chocolates separately so have two bowls, one each for the two chocolate mixes. Mix well so that the whole of the chocolate has melted.
Add sugar, and eggs and whisk well. Add vanilla and the sieved flour plus salt. Now, here I added 1 tsp of baking powder even though it is not there in the recipe. The maida we get here can get quite heavy.
Mix well and pour onto your baking mould. Bake at 190 C for 25-30 minutes for the dark chocolate brownie and for 30-35 minutes for the white choc brownie. Since I mixed the two, I baked it for 40 minutes. A tad extra but still nice and soft 🙂
