Today is my little one’s fifth birthday and it was his order that I bake the cake for his party! So this was my attempt at professionalism and fell short by miles!! 🙂 Cake tasted good as always (:P) but was a bit crumbly and the centre was fudgy. But….all wiped clean at the end of it all!! Happy mom! 🙂
Recipe from a book about chocolate. Totally decadent!
120 gms – semi sweet/dark choc, in small pieces, melted and cooled
1 1/4 cup – flour
1 tsp – baking powder
1/4 tsp – salt
3 – eggs
1 tsp – vanilla essence
3/4 cup – soft butter
1 cup – brown sugar
2/3 cup – yoghurt
Melt the chocolate over the double boiler and let cool.
Soften the butter with a hand mixer and add sugar. Beat till mixed well and fluffy. Add the eggs (one at a time or together….I have found not much difference except in the time taken!) and vanilla. Add the melted chocolate and beat well.
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add to the batter and alternate with yoghurt. Fold in so that the lightness is maintained.
Pour onto a greased baking mould and bake at 190 C for 25-30 min. Please check the center and bake extra 5 min if required.
PS. I used gems for the decoration, silver small balls for the ‘balloons’ and chocolate chips for the border.
